All of the pictures above were taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290. It is a 12.1 megapixel camera. _________________ John C. |

Robert, No problem!
Dmyerswny, I don't actually know, I needed a large pot to plant all 2 dozen or so of the cuttings I took and they all fit in that pot, but I didn't have much soil made up and didn't make anymore so I just planted them like that. In one set of growth they are past the top of the pot. It might have been a little shady in there but they seem to have liked it. Now comes the hard part of repotting them all and not getting any glochids!
Iann, Yes it has, and its great!
Andy, Yes, something did. I can't figure out what ate it though. The same thing happened to my tall unknown Echinocereus a year or two ago. It's beyond me whats doing it though. It hasn't happened to any other plants except those 3 Echinocereus. It really puzzles me!
Darryl, I'm not sure, let me go check the tags. Might be right. _________________ John C. |

The second unnamed echinocereus was labeled Echinocereus pectinatus v. coahuila.
I remember now, the first one hasn't ever had a permanent name. I'll post more pics of it in the id section sometime and see what everyone thinks. _________________ John C. |

I don't think that C. fulgida mammilatas have glochids,(at least mine doesn't) they do have spines tho! I can pick up the segments of mine without gloves cafefully and I haven't gotten one yet, but then maybe mine are different. BTW it's neat that yours has a lot of new growth and some of them are cresting too. Mine cutting hasn't crested yet... I am waiting til next year.
(edit) Oh yeah I almost forgot, it's nice to see growth on all of your cacti they look happy _________________ Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti. |
