StrUktO.. I like everything outside, in the ground preferably. I have some winter damage but the strong survive.

Ian,
I agree 100%. I have one of those and it's one of my least favorite cacti to look at, but when it flowers it puts on a show and makes up for its ugliness.

Nice show on both plants :)
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

Ian and Peter,
I tend to agree also, although I still have to try to convince some people that any cactus is attractive when not in flower.''
In the winter after it's been through some frost, it turns purplish and looks even less attractive but the flowers are pretty and last for a few days.

I don't see pentalophus as 'ugly', there's just not so much to see!
except when it flowers, wow!

WOW!
I'm speechless ...!
I've never seen anything like it.

I envy you (meaning not bad)!

Fantastic!
That would put any flower show (non cactus) to shame.

Wwoooww!!

What a flower show :D
We sailed through endless skies
Stars shine like eyes
The black night sighs
The moon in silver trees
Falls down in tears

Light of the night
The earth, a purple blaze
Of sapphire haze in orbital ways...
