Growth Habits: Starts off solitary but will slowly clump with age.
Scientific name: Echinocereus subinermis.
Common names: None that i could find.
Synonym: Echinocereus subinermis var. aculeatus, Echinocereus luteus, Echinocereus subinermis var. luteus Echinocereus subinermis subsp. ochoterenae Echinocereus subinermis var. ochoterenae
Etymology: From the Greek echino = hedgehog cereus from the Latin meaning candle.
inermis meaning “not spiny” so subinermis means almost spineless.
Origin: Northern Mexico (southern Sonora, western Chihuahua, northern Sinaloa)
Light: Partial-shade or filtered sunlight.
Compost: Standard free draining cactus mix.
Water: Regular water in spring to autumn, allow soil to dry out between waterings, dry in winter.
Flower: Yellow
Min temp: Hardy to -2°C. (28f) Will not survive temp's much lower than that.
Cultivation: Fairly easy to grow as are most Echinocereus, it is rot prone so needs a well drained soil and no water in winter. i find that they do better with a little shade as in the wild it grows in tropical deciduous oak forests.

One of the few Echinocereus to have yellow flowers, i find the flower buds to be particularly striking to look at.
