Ah! This is a neat idea. I think one that will result in some last-minute entries too!

I know I posted early, but I'm leaving the US tomorrow and won't be back till the 13th.
I don't think I'll have enough time to get a good picture then...
Hope this helps!

Okay this is not a photo of a cactus or succulent but it will be the photo of the month in our house. The photo is my oldest daughter's commencement from Reedley City College ATP, Adult Transition Program. She will move on to the Adult program and will be learning daily living skills, dietary needs, and much more.

The bees were going crazy yesterday. They were even fighting their way into Echeveria flowers. I don't know what normally pollinates them but I bet it isn't as fat as a British Bumblebee! Unfortunately I didn't get any photos good enough for the competition.

I think these are good shots of bees on cacti, not taken today.

And this one not so good, for the bee anyway. It has a good crop of mites and was clearly bothered by them.

Very nice close ups again Ian. I think the background tends to be a little wild in terms of the picture composition. Did you try to stick i.a. a piece of paper in the back of the cactus ? (This won´t work shooting insects on cacti of course :( )
