Trouble diagnosing sick cactus -- help please (with photos)

Post by trudithnjudith »

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone who has been posting photos and answers regarding sick plants, however, after reading dozens of posts, I'm still unsure what has happened to MY much-loved, formerly dark green cactus. Too much water? Sunburn? Can anyone tell from these photos?

Best,

Trudie

Looks like it lost its roots a long time ago.

Its hard to say Trudie, but unfortunatly it looks like its to late to save this one.
Is it loose in the pot and or all squishy inside?

That's what I was afraid of, but thanks to both of you for weighing in. I guess instead of a diagnosis, I needed an autopsy. It doesn't seem loose or squishy, but now that I'm convinced it's beyond repair I'm more free to poke around. Thanks again.

I'm fairly certain that plant is deceased. Looks like it lost it's roots to rot a while ago and then proceeded to dessicate. RIP.

I'm afraid you're right, Dan. May all of your plants fare much better.
