Shade Garden for cacti

Post by Charles »

Hello From Sparks NV. I have been away for some time. My cactus garden has been badly hammered from the daily 100 degree temps for two/three months. I lost some cacti and some others are sunburned. I covered many of them with broken pots etc. SO, I have built a new garden. I took out the huge Cholla (that had 4 bird's nests in it) and moved in boulders from around my yard to make a shaded place for some tender cacti--and a few seedlings.
This little project took three weeks because I can only work about 3 minutes before I have to sit down. Anyway, here is a photo of my shade garden. I'll plant it this fall.
Oh, its a bit ugly but it will work, I hope.

Hey Charles, good to get the update from you. Sorry to hear about the losses. Even here in MN, I ended up getting some plants burned in the greenhouse because we've had temps in the 90's. Supposed to continue this week too.
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti
