When looking at my Hamatocactus hamatacanthus, I noticed my copiapoa mollicula at the end of the areole, a split. Test your eyes. ???Starting of a pup????

Not sure thats C. mollicula, however, they are quite variable.

Nice, Darryl! Don't remember running across C. mollicula, but have 5 of the more common ones. Amazingly I haven't killed any (after 3 yrs) & have a pup coming out of base of tenuiss. How old is that plant? I really like it

No idea how old it is, i've had it for 5 years. I would guess at maybe 10-12years old?

From what I know about Copiapoa they can live for a long time and get rather large. Of course I have a rather small seedling, but it has bloomed 5 times this year.. It's a C. marginata
