I had a beautiful graft on Pereskiopsis spathulata of Mammillaria Senilis.
It seemed to rot from the inside. The pereskiopsis was in excellent shape but the Senilis was hollow.
I did not find any bugs on the plant. anyone have any idea what happened?

Re: Can you overwater Pereskiopsis and ruin a graft
Is it possible that there was a void between the M. senilis and the Pereskiopsis stock that filled with water? Sorry for your loss as well.

Major bummer!
Is it possible the plant grew so fast it split, you didnt notice it due to all the fuzz and then it started to rot?
I have had a few plants split and two turbi's have recently died this way.

I think that happened to one of my Mamm's too. It either got too much water and the roots rotted, or it split or something, all I know is it was outside (potted) and exposed to the rain. One day it was normal and happy, and the next it was a pile of mush with cool hooked spines. (BTW I dont remember which Mamm it was)
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

Sorry, Ap, for the loss. I do know senilis is supposed to be pretty H20-sensitive. I lost one -- the only one of a deck full) at the end of last summer when our drought finally ended & we had a couple of showers (no deluge) within 3 -4 days of each other. Replacement doesn't get to go outside
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
