planting saguaro in ground questions
i have a two foot tall saguaro cactus that i am going to be planting in the ground in topock arizona and was wondering if planting it in the ground with supersoil palm and cactus mix would be okay or does it not require any other soil?

I'd definitely be cutting your SuperSoil Palm & Cactus to 25% with something coarse -- pumice, DG, road gravel, NAPA 8822, Turface....
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Interesting question. Do saguaros grow in cultivation there in the Havasu area? I can't remember now if I have seen them in landscaping or not. Anyway, I would just dig a very large hole, turn the native soil over and break it up and not add anything to it, probably.

Re: planting saguaro in ground questions
There are Saguaros in the ground in Lake Havasu. Not exactly native, but not so far off. Nice low elevation, so probably not too cold. There are actually some huge ones, but they may have been brought in at a fairly big size.

They are native just south of there in the Parker Dam area. I checked the Cal Flora website (because I'm more familiar with it than similar Arizona databases) and you can see where it occurs in that area on the CA side as a native plant.
