There are so many! I'll just throw up a few Mammillarias to start with.
White spines *and* white flowers?
My favourite:
But then there's Pediocactus:
Turbinicarpus:
Eriosyce:
Even Echinocactus!

Beautiful examples of white spined cacti, Ian. Now you just have to cope with hard task to select one for the entry...
By the way : are there any other succulents with white spines too?
Here is another cactus example

Beautiful plant.
True spines are remodeled leaves, but I would say to not exclude succulents from this month topic - everything that is kind of tipped / pokey and sticking out from the surface of a succulent plant, will be a valid entry for this one- as far as it nice and white, haha.

Least your's grow though, mine just up and die! Think I'm on my third plant now and that one is starting to turn brown and shrivel aswell.

Sounds weird. They seem very tough and tolerant to me. Perhaps I don't have quite your summer heat. They're mountain plants and maybe not fond of constant heat. Also they get a lot of rain in summer and I water mine freely whenever the sun is out. It can also survive outdoors here in summer but seems to grow faster in the greenhouse.SnowFella wrote:Least your's grow though, mine just up and die! I don´t really know what makes it flower. I do water all my EC early in spring (around Feb. 20th) every year and all of them seem to like that treatment. In winter I keep them at 3-5 °C - same as you I guess.iann wrote:What do you do to E. nivosus, Jens? Mine just refuses to flower
Mammillaria seem to be good objekts when looking for white spines.
But occasionally there are other genera with white spines too....
