Panoramic view of scree gardens

Post by MJPapay »

Perhaps you can spot the fellow in the background trying to give the photo a sense of scale.

A panoramic view of my main scree garden area.

The large Agaves in the foreground are A. ovatifolia.

The large green agave to the back right is A. salmiana x protamerica I presume.

Nice garden!

WOW, that garden is great.
Have you any close up pics?

Thanks y'all.

I have more than 100 different species and selections of cacti planted out, with a few in pots.

Many of the plants in my garden can be found at my naturefoto.org gallery, to which a link is copied below.

Sorry, that's easier for me than reposting photos.

MJ - You're garden pix always blow me away! BTW, started you're G. bald x gibbos. seeds. So far 5 have come up, but it's only been 3 wks. Good sized & healthy looking! :D

Five isn't bad - I only have a few more than that.

My impression is that far fewer seeds germinated than in the original cross. Too, a large percentage died, leaving me with what little I have. The attrition rate is probably my fault - attributable to my inconsistent technique and media. I have killed more cactus seedlings this year than when I didn't know what I was doing (which is to say I still don't know what I'm doing when it comes to raising cacti from seeds).

Thanks, Y'all.

Here's one of my cholla beds, the one with the fewest chollas as it happens, but look at the prize in the distance.

Agave 'Silver Surfer' striated variegation (I found it as a young plant amongst a host of regular ones).

That is a photo I took in 2010 of a plant that I got from Ian Barclay some years back - he received it as O. pulchella, but it clearly is not that.

Why are you using my photo of a plant in my collection and showing it to me?

It is a bit confusing.
