That's quite a lot of seedlings!
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.

Very impressive germination! Hopefully you do well with these.

Dudleya seedlings do the best for me outside (since I'm in their habitat).
BTW, habitat for these guys is on a mossy rock - one of the few C&S where peat may actually be appropriate.

That's pretty cool, so, they're more rot resistant than some other succulents?

Thats half a grenhouse in seedlings!
Re: T's seeds 2013
My experience growing dudleya from seed is limited but so far it is just the opposite. Dudleya seedlings damp off readily in high humidity even with microwaved soil and sterilized pots and adult plants rot easily if kept to wet when they are dormant.gemhunter178 wrote:That's pretty cool, so, they're more rot resistant than some other succulents?
I have managed a handful of nice D. britonii and many D. cymosa ssp. pumilla, but only after learning not to leave them in a humid enclosure for to long.
This is my first time growing D. lanceolata, but I have already moved them into the greenhouse and popped off the lid. I will attempt to keep the soil damp and see how they do.
I dont think I have personally seen D. lanceolata or D. pulverulenta growing in moss yet but I believe that they do in other locations. I have seen Cymosa in a few different places and it seems to always be growing in it.
By the way, I still have a few thousand D. lanceolata seed left.
Next to go off is fouquieria splendens. 32 species so far and it looks like I still have a little bit of room.

Nice Tony! Do you keep them in a Propagator or a windowsil? or in a greenhouse?
I wasn't raised a Cactolic but converted to Cactolicism later in life
Re: T's seeds 2013
I have grown Dudleya seedlings outdoors in summer, with just a cold frame to protect them from the worst rain, but they are hardy species and probably not the ones you have. I lost some to botrytis this autumn after I brought them into the greenhouse. They might have done better outside despite all the rain.

They are in a propagator.paulzie32 wrote:Nice Tony! Do you keep them in a Propagator or a windowsil? or in a greenhouse?
This is the second time growing fouquieria splendens from seed. The first time I managed 2 plants out of about ten seeds. I lost a bunch to rot early, I believe because I didnt give them fresh air soon enough. So this time I removed the lid on the container as soon as all of the seeds sprouted. Im going to leave them in the propagator for now and see how the do. Probably going put them out in the greenhouse in a few weeks?
Temps in the prop run between 70f just before the lights go on and 85f when they go off for the day.

Next to sprout are Euphorbia schoenlandii and Duvalia corderoyi
Can you guess which one is which? The duvalia corderoyi plants (if they live ) might end up being a hybrid as all three of these were blooming at the same time.
But this plant blooms on and off all summer and sets seed regularly, so wont be sure until I see them blooming. The first cactus seedlings to make a showing is an Astrophytum hybrid cross I did two years ago.
A. Capricorn x myriostigma grafted on pereskiopsis, crossed last summer with A. asterias. Hope for some super freaks. Next is Obregonia denegrii. My plan is to leave them sealed in the baggie for as long as possible, at least until april or May.

Tony, thanks.
The super freaks sound freaky. I will be curious to see what those look like. I need to start playing with breeding my cacti. I have some Opuntia I can make some freaks with.. O. aurea hybrid X engelmannii makes a red flowering one.

I know the answer but I'll see if other do ;DTony wrote:Next to sprout are Euphorbia schoenlandii and Duvalia corderoyi

I've had my O. variegata set seed before and the seeds are pretty distinctive.
