O. humifusa - Cape Cod

Post by Andy_CT »

Timed it right to find some local Opuntia humifusa in full bloom at the Cape. Been awfully wet in the Northeast US since mid May so the grass was fairly lush. You could quite easily walk past them if they weren't blooming. I would have taken a hundred pictures but I freaked when I noticed huge ticks on my socks/legs.

Cool! :D I should go there some time, I live relatively close.
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.

It is great to see a cactus with such a range with nice bright yellow flowers. It is nice to see them grow along with O. delenii, and O. stricta on the Florida dunes. I couldn't resist grabbing some pads and planting them in the back yard. Bobby Z
