How to root Ariocarpus tubercles better?

Post by BarryRice »

Hey guys, I'm trying to propagate some Ariocarpus.

By firmly rocking them left-right, I can pop off tubercles, but so far out of about 12 tubercles, only 1 has rooted and about 8 have dried up.

I treat the wound with sulfur. Some, I just rest on the surface of a pot of pumice, sitting in a somewhat dry terrarium, bright light. Others, I keep in baggies, like seedlings. These tend to mould, although my sole success was this way.

Any suggestions? Should the tubercles be partially buried? Should I use a moister mix
I'll grow it as long as it doesn't have glochids. Gaudy flowers a plus.
