my collection so far....
Re: my collection so far....
Your cat did that, huh?
I'll grow it as long as it doesn't have glochids. Gaudy flowers a plus.

The flower opened up nice today so I left the greenhouse open so pollinators can get in. I think its pollinated cus it closed up a few hours later.

Yeah they can be confusing when they are young. It's only about 2 1/2 inches across so still a tiny baby. The place I get them from are pretty reliable with labels too which is good.Eutow_Intermedium wrote:Now that i look at your's the spines are a lot sturdier than on my much larger Fero Histrix in Custom pot.

Re: my collection so far....
I swear I am cursed with lophs. Why do they have to be my favourite. I came downstairs today to find my 2 and half year old daughter took it upon her self to wash my larger 2 seedlings in the sink. She managed to squish one flat but left the largest intact so I have repotted to a more permanent home.

Re: my collection so far....
But as always kama is balanced and my flower is closing up so should be fertilised and I got a fruit ripening up on the side. Its still warm in the days in the green house so still time to get some more seeds.

Re: my collection so far....
Curse of the loph came again and rotted my largest seedlings root away. Think I will make a lightbox to go in the airing cupboard on my next attept. That should keep the temp higher.

Re: my collection so far....
I gave up with Lophophora Williamsii years ago.
I tried again this year , got it home to find an advancing rot hole in the side of it and subsequently lost it several wekks later.
Wont be doing these again unless I purchased a grown and older plant with £ £ £. It might have some chance of survival.

Re: my collection so far....
I am beginning to think they are deffinatelly a professional/experienced persons seedling it seems better value for money and survival chances to get older ones. I will continue to try them mainly as my older ones produce seeds for free. Think I will start my next batch in winter then put them in the greenhouse in early spring so they get a longer growing season. But if this attempt fails I will collect seeds and give them away let someone elsev have a go maybe they'll get more luck. I have read astrophytums are easier so might get some asterias seeds.

Try http://www.croston-cactus.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they have very healthy plants at very good prices including postage. Was thinking of getting a ceaspitose from them.Eutow_Intermedium wrote:I gave up with Lophophora Williamsii years ago.
