The light is a lot bluer than it looks in the photo its just the camera auto adjusting badly. I did try a 1900 lumen halogen bulb but it cooked my loph seedling the box was at least 90°c after like an hour. I opened the melting baggy a steam bellowed, far too hot so I changed to a uv bulb. Lucky I tested it first would have ruined my new seeds.

Seeds came today. So I have potted them up and got them in the light box. There was supposed to be 100 in the mixed bag but was more like 200 so had to add extra pots. Here's some pics.

Halogen bulbs do get terribly hot! Stick to using them in halogen ovens. A UV light you say? There's no need to use a bulb which puts out a lot of UV light and it's inefficient to use one that does so, since UV light is mainly wasted light to plants. :P

Quite a list you have there and I'd say quite a typical one to starting addicts. Most of the desirable species. :) What's in that seed mix? Is that a general succulent mix, because those aren't all cactus seeds. Looks like there are some interesting things in there, good luck! :P

=D> Good to hear. Strombocactus seedlings might be too small to see to begin with. I know that my remaining 10 month old seedlings are barely 1mm in diameter. :P Where did you get the seeds from? :)

The first pic is the Strombocactus disciformis. They seem to be germinating nicely. The second is just the whole tray. If you zoom in you should see the other ones sprouting mainly succulents so far I think.

Looking good! I might have to try cactusshop.co.uk's seeds some time. To be honest I didn't notice they sold seed. Looks like there's a decent array of stuff in that mix too! I see what look like Astrophytums, Lithops, Stapeliads, Hoodias, Euphorbias, Maihueniopsis and many other kinds of seed in there. That'll be fun to ID when they grow up.

Keep up the good work. :D
