Oh dear
Oh dear
So I transplanted some Ortegocactus seedlings. Actually I transplanted some adults, some large seedlings to individual pots, and some small seedlings en masse to a bigger pot. I thought I'd just get it over with and water the seedlings, who cares if one or two rotted. A few days later and things don't look so good.
After a week it is clear I lost more than one or two. At least they won't need transplanting again for a while

Re: Oh dear
Seems to me that a good few will survive. In my case that succes rate would be a reason to throw a cactus baby shower for friends and family.
I almost feel congratiolations are in place.

Re: Oh dear
my first batch on rebutia muscula went this way with only about 4 surviving, they now live in pure granite chips and seem to have perked up fine. I think the real trick with seedlings is when you switch from wet to dry conditions, you get the timing right and everything is great(something im still working on). You get it wrong and are left with the mushy reminants of failure.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
