Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
Yes, indeed they are! Is the first lovely mammillaria a sanchez-memjoradae? Also, can you tell me the names of the cactus in the last 2 photos?
Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
Yes, that is the Mammillaria with 3 flowers, and last ones are Mammillaria huitzilopochtli niduliformis & Rebutia fidana ssp. cintiensis.

Thanks! I like their spines.
Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
I'm quite new to all this and have always been a "casual" gardener without ever really delving into the nitty gritty details of what will make plants thrive. I've gone through your thread and I'm just stunned by all your gorgeous plants! You've also very much inspired me to try to start some cacti going outside in my 7a zone, I didn't ever think to try as I didn't know it was possible. Lovely work
Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
It is important to find appropriate clones of cacti for outdoor garden that are being tried and grown in local conditions or similar and zone 7 gives an wide choice of these species. Sunny location, good drainage and weed and pest protection will also be needed. But it's rewarding at the end of the day and even less care is required then for indoor potted cacti in most cases.
Some of this January flowers:
Just another ring here...
This Stenocactus likes its sunny southern exposure.
But this Parodia did a surprise, I thought it blooms in summer only. Current winter here is mild and sunny, mostly dry winds and little snow so far.

It took 3 weeks for blooming of that small T. valdezianus.
Some buds are hiding between spines here too.
2 M. recoi leptacantha also are in bloom.
These small Tunilla's also woke up under spring sun even still dry from last September.
Growing Stenocacti need replanting into 3 pots and cohorts sometime this season...
