Peterb, thank you :) I very much enjoyed my tour of Baja, it looks and sounds as though you had a great time, wow! There are certainly some spectacular and fascinating cacti there!

Hi Mark- In general the members of Fouqueria down there were flowering or in fruit. Very leafed out and green too. I think the Palo Adan pic shows both flower and the red fruit.

Tony- yeah, that cardon is really something. One wonders when the seed germinated. I don't have a reliable idea of the age of a cardon of that size, but it must be very old indeed. The same is true for the Ferocactus cylindraceus (thanks for the ID daiv!) that is taller than I am.
