Cacti in habitat, pediocactus, escobaria vivipara, sedum lanceolata, and prickly pears. Opuntia and escobaria are from Nebraska, while the rest are from Wyoming, included are some pictures of the area we looked in.

Here is the end of the year update, Most of the flowers were missed, since due to a move, the plants spent about a month bare root. Because of this I lost about half of the growing season with plants settling down. Many of my plants are common and have experienced physical damage, however, I am working on creating a better variety with some more intriguing species.

I know, it has probably been one of my worse years as far as cacti has been concerned since the move and going to school, about two thousand miles from my cacti it is hard to keep up with them.

The hard part about my home in Cali is that it is moist year round, it doesn’t get that hot in summer, which often helps some cactus species bloom, and winters generally consists of fog, rain, and cloudy skies. Not the best place to grow cacti without a greenhouse.

I grow plants indoor for at least half a year. And the summer sometimes tends to get TOO hot. So i know how you feel with some of the weather and humidity issues.
