The botanical garden is located on the university grounds at the south end of the city. It has a website but I did not find it of much use. If you want to schedule a guided tour check it out on the website. Also, the garden is closed on all school holidays, so check before going.
UNAM is on the last stop of the subway Line 3/green/Universidad. Follow all the students across the bridge to the bus stop and then go straight to the next street to find Line 4. The garden entrance is right near the Biology bus stop .These are free university trams that run constantly. Hours are 9am to 3 pm. Allow a couple hours, snack bar and restrooms availble. There are other gardens on the campus.
