I went up to the county park to locate and identify Agave Mckelveyana, an Arizona endemic native to a broad portion of the west-central part of the state. I found several other plants of interest while I was there.
This is what appears to be a very mature specimen of O. chlorotica
Banana yucca on Hwy 259 in the nearby community of Pinion Pines
and last but not least Mohave Claret cup
No buzzworms this time, but an American Elk wandered across the road.

I cross referenced the claret cup with iNaturalist.org and the species listed for this area is echinocereus bakeri, a relatively new species. Mojavensis is found to the northeast near the Grand Canyon.
Not much on this species online but this is useful:

That American Elk is a mature female? It doesn’t seem shy.

Not real familiar with elk but they are common in the area because the county park is off limits to hunting. This one was eating along a well traveled road. I have seen deer in the campground and have been told mountain lions are also common but have never seen one. Outside of the campground and residential areas this is a very steep forested mountain.

One interesting species of Hesperoyucca is worth searching for in that area https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/537787 ... -newberryi

Thanx, I will be in the area in Feb. I also found out recently that there is a second species of Nolina in the area and I have no good fotos of banana yucca. Also on the hit list, last year I swear I saw an agave on christmas tree pass, went home to see the literature and found nothing listed for the Newberry mountains. Of, course, I went back and could not relocate it! Try harder.
Inat is a fantastic resource. With it I have found the courage to bust into Tillandsaia in my part of Central America.
