Cactus ID and planting tips

Post by HFordy »

I have been gifted a huge cactus that has been chopped off.

Any chance of an identification?

I intend to plant it in a sunny spot in the garden. Any tips to help it off to a good start? I’m based in Nelson.

Anything else I can do to help it thrive?

Nelson, BC? Don't you have frost and cold there?

I would root this cutting first in warm place and plant them outdoors in spring maybe.

Looks like spineless Trichocereus been grown in shade.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
