Anza-Borrego this spring

Post by 7george »

Knowing about rainy weather this year in California I decided to visit Anza-Borrego park couple of weeks ago. Warmer and wetter conditions made this desert looking green and attractive. There was many people in the park.

An oasis with cold water was there too.

It was just a day trip with 2 or 3 short hikes but I found most plants I expected to see there. Spotted just one cholla in bloom along the road but didn't stop for a shot.

Found also some Mammillaria dioica actively growing and blooming already. Most were hiding next to some barrel cacti or other plants.

I think most is considered a part of Sonoran desert, even with elevation and moving to the East flora changes significantly.
