Being in Palm Springs I visited this garden last month. Lot of plants, hard to judge how many species. Will show you some of the photos I've taken there.

Not many blooms were seen, was too early in the season maybe.

Admission is very affordable, also some plants for sale on tables.

Kind of greenhouse with succulents.

Found also a couple of old topics about this place in the forum but not much photos have left there.

Birds and turtles were an extra view in the garden. Find the nesting birds in next two photos.

Nice!
I like how the path and the 'beds' are one whole. It gives a more natural feel.

According to LLifle correct spelling would be Neoporteria cachytayensis. It's not a valid name and it's considered to be a form of Eriosyce taltalensis.

Those hummingbird nests are so well camouflaged, I could only spot the one in the Opuntia because of the black beak!

Using your hint I went back and looked again and found it. It was right in front of my eyes, but I never saw it. I was looking at the dark patches thinking they might be cavities and the bird would be inside it.

Question on the Leuchtenbergia, if you know- The tubercles on your photo are all green out to the tips. Mine die off at the tips. Am I not giving it enough water? I've been growing my two since 2009 and one even flowered last year. But I'm not happy with them.

Repotted April 2021 so here are bare root plants:

Old tubercles always die but the care matters. That greenhouse is quite shaded, at about 50% or more. Also Leuchtenbergia in culture are in two different varieties that have different body colors and maybe tubercles' longevity.
Fleshy roots store juices in a dry period so aboveground parts can dry out then.

Hey George, I just saw I posted these same photo's last year in a different post of yours. My apologies. I didn't remember I did it. Still trying to figure out how to grow these plants.

I have begun keeping my plants in the same Eastern exposure my Malagasy Euphorbia get. Full sun until 1 pm, then shade of the house. Plants in an Eastern exposure right up against my house.
