Schlumbergera bridgesii disease or pest

Post by Sova1970 »

Hello Cacti Lovers,

In the past three months, my Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera bridgesii) has developed a disease or is being attacked by a pest. The damage occurs only on the underside of the leaf segments, which then fall off. I have attached a photograph of the disease/pest, in the hope that somebody can identify the problem and suggest a suitable treatment.

I shall thank everyone in advance for any advice.

I can only say I don't know what it is. Maybe someone else will look again.

It might help if you outlined what you do for your plant as far as water, fertilizer, light, etc. I let mine get a little drier right after it blooms.

I just took another look at the photo and wondered about a nutrient excess or deficiency. I know my Schlumbergera will get reddish purple segments if it gets too much sun in the summer.

Thrips damage. Kill them twice.
