Re: Yeah Year 1 log

Thank you! I just showed my mother the set and she approves. She would regret that I used some of her money to get this started, but she doesn't know that yet

Re: What plant do you want most, but have been unable to find?

It's a toss-up because I have only been searching for a year. I've found Coleocephalocereus aureus (or Buiningia brevicylindrica) and these I really like

Seed Sourcing for Research

Hello! If you find yourself having a purpose or a goal to research Opuntiads, the U.S. National Germplasm(?) System will send you a small portion of seeds. https://www.ars-grin.gov/ I was checking out some grains to finish a research paper on Californian Wheats and grains, then noticed they had Opun...

Re: Yeah Year 1 log

I'm back! Since we are about to hit frost I found a lamp and new bulbs tucked in the corner of the garage. Someone isn't skimping on the lights either, I definitely did not find 5 more fixtures. These are t12 and the newest lamp we had tucked away. Very white compared to incandescent. https://i.imgu...

Re: Yeah Year 1 log

Since I last checked in I burned up some of my seedlings from a Ferry-morse packet I purchased. Since that was a bust, I ordered the $13.50 10 packs of 25 seeds at Cactusstore.com to get back on the road with a collection. I'm kind of glad they included Opuntia Engelmannii, so I now have two varieti...

Are these Agave pods ripe?

Biked about 5 miles today and found these good sized pods on an unknown Agave. I haven't seen these open before nor could I find any scattered on the ground around the two plants. So I'll just write it up as immature seeds, maybe check the spot again in 1 month?

Re: Christmas cactus and Salinity

Isn't the chloride part of most fertilizers what "burns" plants? I know SodiumChloride shouldn't be used on plants in excess. My fertilizer contains no Chlorides [or Ammonium for that matter]

Maybe I should lay off the salt :)
