Re: My winter setup (Grow boxes and cacti)
Grow box 2 & 3 are located in a building where the temperature wary between -5C to 20C. Box 2 has 45mm of insulation and both boxes have heating. The box has 155W of led lights (measured) so I have to ventilate out a lot of heat. GrowBox.jpg The hatch will open if the temperature rises above the...

My winter setup (Grow boxes and cacti)
Hi! I really like all forum threads where different members share there take on growing seeds, grafting etcetera So in this thread, I will show my winter setup for growing seeds indoors. Because I live in Sweden I have to grow seedlings under artificial light. I have therefore started to build my ow...

Re: Tephrocactus geometricus on a Echinopsis peruviana rootstock?
I am a little concern about the "healthy" part, it got two spots that looks like a beginning of the same rot.
If the part root it's ok, Tephrocactus geometricus cacti are expensive. But if it starts to rot I will ask for a refund.

Re: Tephrocactus geometricus on a Echinopsis peruviana rootstock?
Most of the plant was completely rotten.
I paid 50€ for the plant so I really hope that I can root the only fine part left, I removed some brown parts of it too.

Re: Tephrocactus geometricus on a Echinopsis peruviana rootstock?
Hi Dave! Thanks for you comments. The black scab doesn't look good, do you think It's ok to remove the scab on number 2 before the plant has rooted? Hope number 1 will root fast, I don't think the plant has got any water in a long time. Have not decided if I should "sacrifice" a Echinopsis...

Re: Tephrocactus geometricus on a Echinopsis peruviana rootstock?
Today my cactus arrived with the mail. It was very expensive and quite ugly :) The first thing I did was to cut it in parts. My plan is to reroot the fine part (number 1 in picture) and graft one of the ugly parts (2 or 3). The main plant has been repotted. It's a pity that the ugly parts are so dam...

Tephrocactus geometricus on a Echinopsis peruviana rootstock?
Hi!
Have anyone tried to graft a Tephrocactus geometricus on a Echinopsis peruviana (or Echinopsis pachanoi) rootstock?
I do not have any good rootstock in the opuntioideae subfamily.

Re: Any mushroom growers?
A couple of years ago I grow oyster mushrooms indoors. Tried to find a good combination of humidity and light indoors but the harvest was always small. Fun growing though. Outdoors the mushrooms grow much better but were eaten by a lot of bugs :( Two weeks ago I saw oyster mushrooms outdoor growing ...

Re: UV Lamps for the winter
I have never tried UV-light but regular "grow light" works fine. As Wallydraigle write it is a good idé to let your cacti have a cool dry season. But if you don't have any cool place to store your cacti artificial light works fine. Heat and too little light are a very bad idé, they will gr...

Re: cosmo's grafts
Hi! One technic that I like is to use some plastic wrap around the seedling. Look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPe6qCEG3mc Another thing I do is to use plastic bottles that I cut in half (or just the top) and place over the pot with the graft for a week or two. That guarantees high ...

Re: No more manual counting of seedlings!!!
Is it illegal to bring Lophophora seeds to Australia?
Here in Europe a lot of suppliers have them in stock.

No more manual counting of seedlings!!!
Hi! Just wan't to share something cool. My lophs gave me a lot of seeds this year. Two weeks ago I planted ~600 seeds. I always count me seedlings because it's interesting to know how many that germinates. But I will not count 600 manually!! So I thought about image recognition and surly someone els...

Re: Never use Pyrethrins on Echinopsis!
When I bought the pecticide they told me that the plants should not be in the sun after treatment. So I put the Echinopsis under a table in the greenhouse away from the sun for a couple of days. I did not move the lophs because the weather was cloudy, the lophs show no signs of damage (lucky me beca...

Never use Pyrethrins on Echinopsis!
Hi! Maybe I am not the first to warn about this. I used a well known Pesticide (in sweden) containing Pyrethrins on my Lophs and Echinopsis pachanoi. Now two weeks later there are blisters all over the Echinopsis (the Lops are fine). After some googling I read about another person that damaged his E...
