Not late at all! I'm 64 and still sowing some Ariocarpus, it's a joy to watch them grow and change throughout the seasons

Re: Flowers drying out before they bloom

Hi Alejandro! Thank you so much for your reply. the two fruits or blossoms that I circled began but then fried up before actually opening into the usual floral bloom. And yes, there is a new bud coming up next to them. Could the cactus actually be thirsty or not hydrated enough to let the flower co...

Re: Flowers drying out before they bloom

Hi CaraR,
I believe those fruits you have there, did it flower in those 2 spots before? You can see a bud (or new growth) to the left of the 'fruits' you circled

Re: Seedling ID

Three years ago I planted a number of what I purchased as Echinofossulocactus (Stenocactus) crispatus. I am questioning the id. Could anyone offer insight to either confirm or refute the species? Thanks Just out of curiosity, what makes you doubt their id? I have no experience growing Stenocactus b...

Dime size in diameter? I would go for something like grape size, it needs the body volume to to not shrink too fast.

MrXeric wrote: Fri Jun 16, 2023 12:29 am Maybe the cuttings are too small? Depends on species, but cuttings that are too small will often dry up before they can root, especially if kept in direct sun or too close to lights.
I agree with MrX, also, can you show us a photo of the plant?

Re: Hana's grafting 2022/2023

A scion, Ariocarpus fissuratus cv godzilla has pushed flowering buds up. I grafted a young seedling on 28th November 2022. We have one more month in autumn but I am not sure it could open flowers or not because flowering buds come out from an abnormal location. Wow! That is an odd place for the bud...

Re: Fouquieria splendens campanulata flower pod

This is exciting! This is the first flower pod on this beautiful plant, purchased 8-10 years ago from Corona Cactus :) I too congratulate you. As a near neighbor, you know how cool it's been lately (2+ of snow at my place Mar. 2), and that may have been beneficial. That subsp. grows at a fairly hig...

I think somebody recently was on the forum asking about information on that plant.
Thanks!! The longest stem is a little over 6feet/2 meters, I'll search the forum to see if I find who was asking about it.
