Re: Try this rarely used grafting technique
It reminds me 'tongue approach grafting' for melons https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/HS1257 when both scion and rootstock growth on own roots first time after graft union but you apply it for cacti. Amazing. I want to try this too.

Re: What makes crested/monstrose cacti?
Here are my crested Obregonia seedlings. They were bacterial infected during grafting on Pereskopsis and it caused the fasciation. These two pics are same grafted seedling. https://i.ibb.co/F7YXqPH/DSC05179.jpg https://i.ibb.co/bz3f6Gh/DSC05683.jpg And these pics are another crested/ polytomy grafte...

It looks close to Opuntia Cacanapa / Opuntia Ellisiana Spineless https://www.gardentags.com/profile/dazenrue2/opuntia-cacanapa/676053 and https://www.opuntiads.com/opuntia-cacanapa-incl-o-ellisiana/ O. cacanapa ‘Ellisiana’ is a garden variant of O. cacanapa that has no spines at all and essentially ...

They look great 👍 Thanks. On May 21 I had these two favorites. One was dark, and another one was unusual. https://i.ibb.co/j65F0VK/DSC02547.jpg https://i.ibb.co/BgR4J82/DSC02546.jpg https://i.ibb.co/9vpxt6q/DSC02539.jpg https://i.ibb.co/ryJ2YvP/DSC02540.jpg I placed the pots outdoor. Re: Are there possible variegated seedling or not?
All grafted seedlings except one are ordinary. But one grafted seedling is still colored and became crested (or at least became two headed?) I was right. It became two headed then became multi-headed, but unfortunately is not variegated. It looks like it constantly divides in half at each growth po...

Re: Starting Over
I cleaned this Astro asterias as best I could. It's looking pretty bad. Do you think it's even possible to save, or it is even worth trying? It looks almost dead for me. Is it just over drying or some infection? You can try to graft a living piece with areole but be careful to avoid infection again...

If this is the right product (link below), it seems to be available on eBay UK. Bit pricy, but that probably would be a lifetime supply of the stuff for me, so I’ll give it a try! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284190775405?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&i...

Re: Propagation of asterias from seed
I just had a few questions- based on your years of expertise/experimentation, what age should the seedlings be re-potted when is the ideal time/age to cut the tap roots? I have two seedlings that I planted in November 2019, so they're a year and a bit old- should I repot them now and should I cut t...
