Re: My sowing diary.

I have bought my seeds from Mesa Garden. All I do is put them in a closed container with lots of light on a heat mat and wait until I see they stop growing fast. Then I slowly introduce them to open air. Then I water them about once a week, or when the soil is dry. I haven't looked at them for a whi...

Bloom color

Red Butte Garden in Utah is having a sale on plants and I found the following plants from their list that have me very intrigued, but I was wondering what color the blooms are. Does anyone know the following species, all copied and pasted from the site, and what their blooms are? Cylindropuntia imbr...

Re: Coryphantha Secrets?

Mixture of sand, perlite, and cactus soil. These are my saguaros and Az fishhooks. Nothing different at all except maybe the amount of dirt in the container.

Re: Coryphantha Secrets?

Jellycacti, they just die after 3-7 months. I have them next to my other seeds that are healthy and happy.

Re: Coryphantha Secrets?

7george, yes, and its a vivosun heat mat. I haven't done anything different with these seeds than I have with saguaro, organ pipe, mammaliria, king cups, and I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them.

I have been trying to grow sulcata, pineapple cactus seeds.

Coryphantha Secrets?

What is the secret to getting coryphantha seeds to stay alive? They are more difficult than sclerocactus and pediocactus species. I've changed soils, ability to drain, light, oxygen, heat, and richness. I can't get these critters to stay alive.

Re: And this is?

Thank you. As for the light, that would be the supplier. That picture is the day I was given it after purchase. Its currently in a south facing window.

Re: New to succulents

This next one is all in the same pot, what a shocker right? Anyways, what do I need to do to these to keep them alive? I just barely got it today, as a gift, so there is no reason to critique the lack of light. I took the photo minutes after I got it and the office has no windows. I know. It needs l...

New to succulents

I don't have a clue about succulents outside of hens and chicks and nature does that for me. This first one is in a south facing window. Its mama sprays it with water because she was told to not soak it. However it is shriveling, because I thought it was not getting enough water, but after soaking i...

Re: My sowing diary.

Are you dates when you sowed them or when they germinated? I ask because my Carnegiea gigantea are only six months old and your picture shows them being about 1/3 smaller than mine.

Re: General growing questions

This is what has worked for me in limited space and resources. My top advice is to take what you have learned and mash it together to find what works for your circumstances. Nobody has the be all end all when it comes to this. For example, I was told my cali barrels are in too rich of soil and they ...

Re: Cold Hardiness

My saguaro has broken dormancy as has the golden barrel, but the rest of them had not. Thanks for the tips. With the lows going back into the upper 30s and low 40s, they get to go back into the rain today. This will be the last time since everyone has been very helpful. Too expensive to be replacing...
