ISO opuntia aciculata, cowboy whiskers prickly pear USA
Good day. I am looking for opuntia ciculata pads to purchase or trade. Sometimes it’s called chenille cactus, or cowboy whiskers prickly pear. It has orange glochids. Also, if you have any red spined prickly pear, I would be interested in those as well. Please send me a message if you have either of...

Located in Las Vegas, NV Opuntia phaeacantha to trade
A friend was going to dig out and throw this plant in the trash so I came over and saved it. From the research I’ve done, it seems like this is a hybrid of O. phaeacantha and o. Engelmanii. The plant just appeared in her garden, probably grown from seeds dropped by birds living in the area. I do not...

*USA* opuntia phaeacantha hybrid cuttings available
A friend wanted to remove and throw away this plant, so I swooped in and saved it. She never planted it herself, she said it just appeared one day as a small plant so she moved it to the front garden. It was likely grown from seed that was dropped by birds that live in the area. From the research I ...

Re: Mailing cacti cuttings from USA to UK
Holidaymakers often bring plants in their luggage not knowing of any plant regulations until they are given declaration cards that ask whether they have any food or plant materials etc and if not allowed it is simply confiscated. As to postal services, I am sure the general public often mail plants...

Mailing cacti cuttings from USA to UK
Hello! Has anyone ever mailed cuttings from the USA to the UK? There seems to be a lot of rigamarole in order to be able to do this, including having the plant parts inspected, and obtaining a phytosanitary certificate, which costs $60 on its own. Just wondering if anyone has had any recent experien...

Re: Greenhouse in Phoenix (am I insane?)
I am considering something similar. I live in Las Vegas, NV (zone 9a), and I am looking to build a shade house, or some type of protective yet handsome structure for my potted cacti and succulents. It gets cold here in the winter, and we have extreme heat just like Phoenix. I would like to have a pl...

Re: My Best Gloves for Cactus Handleing
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been handling cacti with glochids lately, and it’s been very challenging. I try to use tongs when I can but there are just some times when you have to use your fingers.

Re: Cutting the top off of my Euphorbia ammak
LOL! This is actually very good information to know. Thank you. I experienced surprise also when I cut into my Moroccan Mound, euphorbia resinifera, to propagate it. I expected an ooze, you know, a slow drip of sorts, but the dang thing poured white stuff all over table! Eek! You just don’t really k...

Re: Howdy from Las Vegas, NV
Welcome to rhe forum Thalia! I too have given up on succulents and they always seem a bit touchy for me. Cacti will take anything you throw at them. Opuntias particularly have been very easy for me even rooting in the dead of winter. They are some of my favorite Beautiful pot btw Thank you ElieEste...
