A Gymno, a Lobivia
I was in a garden centre yesterday and came upon some cacti that had obviously come from someone's personal collection as they had handwritten labels and good compost. When I asked I was told that a guy sometimes brought some in and they'd sell them on his behalf. I managed to get a Copiapoa tenuiss...

You're lucky to see the flowers. Mine flowered for the first time when I was on holiday

Re: Help with some IDs
#5 I thought it was Gymnocalycium mihanovichii. Are you sure? My sure-ness is somewhere between "pretty" and "very." I have a few anisitsii and they look exactly like that. I only have them and one other Gymno, though, so someone who's more knowledgeable about the genus mi...

Re: Red not green
Okay, thanks for the responses. If this is normal I''ll stop worrying and enjoy the flowers as they open! Cheers.

Red not green
Can anyone offer any help with these two plants? It was originally one large, green plant that started turning red last year. I thought it might be an attack of red spider mites so I cut out and rerooted some green stems and binned the rest. Now these have turned red too. Thing is, they seem quite h...

Re: Mammillaria help needed please
Good luck if you ever wanted to separate those or repot! I repotted both mine and it was the most difficult job I've done with cacti. Those spines attach themselves to anything within a 3m radius!

Thank you! I'll follow up those suggestions, but past experience suggests you've probably nailed them.

A couple more Mammillarias
I'm struggling with Mammillarias again. So many that look slightly like these but not quite, so help appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Gymnocalycium?
Thank you. You're spot on as usual. I don't nnow how you do it! None of the photos on this site resemble my photograph. There's one on Llifle that looks vaguely similar but most of theirs are out of focus. ID of any plant is not easy!

Gymnocalycium?
I thought at first this might be a Matucana of some description, but now leaning towards Gymnocalycium, possibly G. oehnanthemum. Or am I miles away?

Re: Mammillaria help needed please
Thanks, everyone. I'll follow those suggestions up. I already have a bobycina but these two don't look the same as it,, although with wide variations on most species I guess it's not impossible.
