Re: 3 Globe cacti IDs request (IDENTIFIED DONE)

I don't think the Melocactus is matanzanus. I have one that looks very similar to yours, with the chevrons between the ribs, which has been identified as M. bahiensis.

Re: Is my plant Cephalocereus senilis or something similar?

Mammillaria glassii What makes you think that? In M. glasii central spines are same colour and barely distinguishable from radial spines, while the plant on the pictures above has brown, hooked central spines tipical of M. bocasana . Are they hooked spines? I couldn't make it out, which made me dou...

Re: Wintering

FWIW, whereas most of my collection is in an unheated (though fleece-lined greenhouse) I keep all my Ferocacti, S. pruinosis and P. magnifica indoors in a cool room. https://www.llifle.com/Encyclopedia/CACTI/ is a good place to find out tolerance to cold for each variety.

that's a real nice Matucana madisonorum. Interesting with those long spines, never seen that before.
Is this a special variety?
Nachtkrabb
Hey Nachtkrabb. Sorry, only just seen this. Thanks. It was identified to me as "horridispinum", which makes perfect sense! 😁

I agree. Matudae is looking the more likely. Maybe it just needs to grow a bit. :D Flowers might help but that won't be this year now.

Re: Mammillaria ID

I managed to get in touch with the person I got it from and she says she thinks it's M. rubrograndis. From photos on the internet this doesn't seem likely. Any thoughts on that?

Mammillaria ID

I've just acquired this plant, which was only marked as a Mammillaria. After a lot of searches I came up with M. sphaerica as a possible. Can anyone please confirm? Thanks.

Various E. oxygona?

Can anyone confirm that each of these are varieties of Echinopsis oxygona? Searches seem to show a wide range of forms for this particular species. Thanks.
