Re: Repotting tips for this cactus?
Ohers may scream murder but I would probably mist or hose down the pads to give them some moisture and then keep them out of the sun until potted again. Just don't let them sit on wet paper too long or they may rot or mold. My guess would be that your cacti will be fine. Opuntia are tough as nails....

Scale treatment help needed
From Steve's awesome sticky, it seems that I need to remove the scale from my unfortuate opuntias (just found them infested today upon watering - oh, no) with tweezers but then I am not so sure. My plants are all indoor in saucers and I think the soak solution was no good for me from what I remember...

Re: How to best destroy cacti...?!?
Very true. I am so focused on adoring that piece of living art that nature shared with me in that little clay pot that it is hard for me to see my little treasure as part of a species that acts as an unwelcome, aggressive, successful and harmful invasive in some ecosystems. I just wish it would do th...

How to best destroy cacti...?!?
Wow - here is a different take on life: how to destroy cacti. See last paragraph. Scale seems to do the trick where even mechanical removal seems to fail.

That plant is awesome! Velvety, attractive, easy growers and well, if you hold your nose the blooms are fantastic, ha ha!
i have several varieties and love'em all. Why would you have one? Because they are a joy to see every day, that's why.
Congratulations on this big bloom!

Re: Are my cactus doomed?
Hm, if my husband had done this I would probably talk to him and try to reach a compromise, like: could we have the lights on the other side of the house and not by my cactus tables, or could we have the lights off unless we sit out and enjoy them so they would be off most of the time and only on on...

Re: Not proud of myself but the cactus!
... a serious drought, indeed. It was me giving up on my plants - shame, shame - when other problems reared their ugly heads and some days I really could not put one foot in front of the other by the end of the day (due to illness) and I always said "I'll get them tomorrow. I'll do it in the mo...

Re: Opuntia disease - what is this?
Thank you, teo! I have a sulfur powder. Do you think I could make a dilution? What ratio do you use? This is what I have: https://www.amazon.com/Lilly-Miller-100524478-Sulfur-Dust/dp/B004Q07LFM/ref=sr_1_6?crid=3POZHL6JTPR4Z&dchild=1&keywords=sulfur+powder+for+plants&qid=1594601464&sp...

Re: Opuntia disease - what is this?
Thanks, Harald! I looked at the pinned post you so kindly provided on fungal diseases. Did not see solutions, other than one person talking about treating with sulfur but I would have no idea how. Just powder it on dry? Make it into a paste and smear it on? Any help much appreciated. These fungi see...

Re: Opuntia disease - what is this?
I guess, obviously, I need to remove them. Was waiting for them to grow a new pad so I would not lose the variety - but I suppose I should do that in quarantine. Duh! Still, if you know what this is, would appreciate your input!
