Re: now they've really gone too far !!
Horrible. Why not paint a piece of wood? It would last longer, too.

Re: Eeewuuh - is this spider mite?
Grew up mostly in the Black Forrest. My grandma was the one introducing me to cacti, with the earliest I remember being opuntia (very nasty for the fingers long and stiff & fine, brittle spines but beautiful and fast growing variety) and gasteria (some offspring I still have 40 years later). Onl...

Thank you so much for the link to the EU approved chemicals!
Yes, I got some pyrethrin the other day since I remember that from my childhood in Germany. Glad to see it is still an approved option.

Re: Eeewuuh - is this spider mite?
Thank you so much!! Steve, thank you for the names of the two products and the link! Thing is, I have mealy bug pretty badly in another room. Lost a few cacti already and got drastic: removing all the soil now since spot treating with alcohol was a losing battle. Blasting all the soil off with a gar...

Re: A Blooming Thread
Wow - everyone's blooms are georgeous! This is a great thread! I can share Chamaecereus 'Uncle Sam' and Tethrocactus geometricus today. So happy to see these. Do you know if Tethrocactus can be pollintated by the its own flower? I tried to save some 'yellow stuff' on a paint brush for when the other...

Re: Would you please let me know the name of the feed-through bug control?
"feed-through pest control" Do you mean systemic insecticides? These are usually absorbed through the roots and make the plant toxic for a time to sucking pests. Though some can be absorbed through leaves and probably stems as well. They require the roots to be active therefore or they ar...

I've gotten good and bad from eBay. 95 % good, though.

Would you please let me know the name of the feed-through bug control?
Had a little heart-ache leately. Got a bunch of infested cacti from one source and let it slide too long - lost about 15 already and 3 dear ones in the last two days - so now I am playing catch-up and got drastic today: repotted several suspects and blasted the soil off with a garden hose. I did spo...

Re: Stenocereus eruca
Wow - love the one hanging from the greenhouse roof! But they are all great. I snooped around a little further on the site. Thanks for the link. Nice to be connected online and with photos, especially in this time of physical isolation. But always nice to share pictures around the world on these fri...

Re: Stenocereus eruca
Wow - so cool. Are there 3 pieces? Seems like the mom has a baby pup at the end and then there is a thinner piece in the front pot, yes? I guess breaking off pieces is the way it propagates, so maybe not a disaster if that happens when you move it - only you have to wait for each piece to get bigger...
