Re: Lithops seedling acclimation

I don't understand why you'd want to leave it in the dark. I can see slowly getting them acclimated to light after being in the dark during shipping, but how long were they in the box? A few days at most? Then I would not spend a long time in acclimation, a few days at most. Do you think acclimatio...

Re: Growing Lithops and Other Difficult Mesembs

For me, lithops sometime are very tricky to care for. They grow their new leaves 5 or 6 months ago, in April or May, and until now they haven't completely absorbed the old leave, despite I gave them no water at all. What should I do? I put them in a shaded area, maybe 50 to 70% shade cloth. I have ...

Question about young conophytums

So I planted some conophytum seeds last fall and they germinated and have grown well. They got a dry skin over them and have now broke through the dry skin revealing their first true leaves I assume. My question is since they are winter growers and are supposed to be going dormant at this time of ye...

Here are two more that are blooming right now. The flowers in the first picture look yellow but in real life they are actually green.

Re: Strange Lithops seedling growth

The white thing is a thin piece of cotton. Like a cotton ball I stretched out. I experimented and started the seeds on the cotton in a sealed container and once they were growing laid the cotton on the soil and covered it in sand. It seemed to work pretty well. I did others on the sand without the c...

Strange Lithops seedling growth

I have been growing a lot of seeds lately and had a couple of odd seedlings. The first is L. optica rubra and one of the seedlings devided into four lobes when it got its first leaves. Is this normal and what will the plant look like later on? The second one is L. hookerii. One of the seedlings sudd...
