Thank you all for the feedback! I’ll report of turns yellow over the next year.

Re: Seeds disappearing. White mold instead.
Thank you all for the suggestions. Sorry for not updating but life got in the way… I scooped up the molded part and adjacent areas. I was surprised how wet the substrate was. I wasn’t very clear in my post but I have them in a room grow house. The vents are open already for a long time. And about 2 ...

Bronze version of Mammilliaria Elongata
Hi,
I have a M. elongata that has very dense spines with bronze color. Is that a special variety because many photos show them with yellowish spines? Or does the bronze color depend on the sunlight?
Thanks. Best.

Seedlings disappearing. White mold instead.
Hi, Last week I noticed that in a pot of seedlings (Melocactus Matanzanus, sown In February) a few of them had vanished and only the skeletal spines remained. Today I noticed that there is now a very fine whitish mold. And that a few more had gone missing. Not sure if you can see it in the attached ...

Re: So I decided to sow
Important to mention that I'm not using pure mineral mix to sow anymore, because it is important that something grab the nutrients and offer it to the roots, and pure grit don't do this very well. So my current mix is an admixture of perlite, rice rusk ash and peat (I buy it ready to use). Thanks f...

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln
Almost all cacti are in hibernation. During this time they need little / no light. My plants will be moved to the outdoor-dining in the spring. There, depending on the need of the plants, there is more or less light. Hallo K.W.! Thanks for addressing my comment. So, they are still in hibernation???...

Re: So I decided to sow
So here is a picture of the experiment mentioned above. Seedlings of Frailea magnífica several months after being sowed, and are still showing differences in size that are a result of the pre-fertilization of the sowing mix. Upper left is zero fertilizer Upper right is 0.5 fertilizer concentration ...

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln
I am frankly at awe at the beauty, maturity and diversity of your collection. Especially since you grow them here in dreary/rainy/cold Germany! =D> I am a Corona-novice at plant care. And one thing I am still really unsure about is how much light do cacti really need. Especially since we're not even...

Re: 3 Months Later: Time to repot?
When you do pot them up, use the mix they're going to be in permanently. Plant them at the same depth they grew originally, unless there was a problem with one not being properly rooted down, which can happen occasionally. The seed leaves are going to disappear in time, they don't matter at all. Th...

Re: 3 Months Later: Time to repot?
I didn't have much luck repotting my last batch of seedlings at that size. I wouldn't risk it. If you are worried about the spines damaging neighbouring seedlings, I'd take a small pair of scissors and cut the culprit spines off. Thanks for sharing your experience. The spines are soft. So, I am not...

Re: 3 Months Later: Time to repot?
Even though they are really crowded, I'd wait longer to repot. I usually waited a year or so for those I've grown. And when I did, I sowed them with large gaps between seeds to allow a long time in the germination pot. But that is not possible for you now. Something to remember for next time. Yes, ...

Thank you both. Very curious what the cause might be for this purplish color at the base.

3 Months Later: Time to repot?
Hi, Of the 16 pots I sowed in February these Pachycereus pringlei seedlings are by far the overachievers. For reference, it's a 7 x 7 cm pot. Now, it's getting crowded in this pot and I am wondering if I should repot or continue to wait. What do you think? If yes, would you transfer to a "norma...
