Re: Cacti Guides' Lophophora Guide
You will get pure seeds as long as you have no other Lophophora species that have outcrossed with it and it is self fertile. I never save my Lophophora seeds since I have most of the supposed different species growing together, therefore I would probably finish up with random hybrids if set. This i...

Re: Cacti Guides' Lophophora Guide
No answers for a year, here is how it looks today, it is flowering for the first time. The scars are from mites from the end of 2020 summer:

Re: Is this normal? Please identify possible disease.
I treated it with something that might not be known to all of you as it might be sold locally under that name, but it sort of helped, as there is new growth that is green, and I assume that means those mites are dead now: p1.jpg This is the chemical I was adviced to use, sold here under brand name N...

What is this and how to treat it?
First three are those white spots that looks as some dried paint or glue.. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg Also those black dots worried me a bit.. 4.jpg Are these harmless old scars from something or do I need to to treat them with some chemicals? All my collection was recently treated with this acaricide below,...

Is this normal? Please identify possible disease.
Hello all, this is my peyote grafted on top of blue myrtle. In the last 5-6 weeks it grew substantionally, but recently developed some light brown colouring, as the flesh was wounded there and then recovered. What could be this? Is it bad for the plant and do I need to take some measures? Thank you....

Re: grow lights for winter indoor period
the T5 lamps I use put out around 13500 lux at a 10" distance from the plant tops. Tested with a light meter. I used the space to protect my melo's during the colder months and to help grow stubborn plants as well as smaller cuttings and seedlings. Each fixture hold 4 -T54t5 tubes. 4100k 4300 ...

Re: grow lights for winter indoor period
Grow lights are often over-rated. Standard LED ceiling panel lights or LED light bulbs work fine, daylight or cool white are probably better than warm white, and you can often get sensible info on lumens output. Extremely bright sun can be around 100,000 lux (lumens/sq metre) 10,000 lux is a bright...

Re: grow lights for winter indoor period
sounds like they should be outside for winter to me. I am afraid to do that, as the outside temps sometimes can go well below 0 C and stay there for days. Also, it is usually humid outside. Last summer was warm, for example about 2 degC night - 10 degC day temps, but we also had few days with up to...

Re: grow lights for winter indoor period
I didn't even knew about this nomenclature, thanks, learned something new, found what T5 means here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescent-lamp_formats
In fact, the 8 lamps I have are marked: T5 6W 6500K. Each is about 25-30 cm long.

Re: grow lights for winter indoor period
Thank you Antti. Winters here in Bulgaria are milder, sometimes warm, with only few weeks being more cold. That particular room without heating temp can vary between 12-18 deg C, depends on outside temp and sun. In the extremes it can go below 10, would that be a problem? Mostly trichos, some mammil...
