Re: Best way/how to remove pups from a T. peruvianus

Thanks for the reply @ohugal! Well, idk really. Last year I had to cut all the new pups you see (that are cut) including the top because it got f'ed up. All the tops turned purple and I had to chop them to save it. I just didn't want that to happen again that's all. And my signature says (Location: ...

Best way/how to remove pups from a T. peruvianus

Hello, I'm planning on removing the offsets from this Peruvian torch cactus at some point. I guess I'm wondering where to cut exactly, the pup or a chunk of what its growing out of? Thanks! peace.

SICK T. Peruvianus - Purple areas and sunk in flesh. WHY ???

Re: Some of my young San Pedro's Need help standing fall over.

The only way too much water would make them droop is if they rotted, which doesn't appear to be what's happening here. Poor root contact with the soil may be contributing to some of them going limp. Thanks Everyone for your reply's! I believe you are right about not enough water and loose dirt. It'...

Some of my young San Pedro's Need help standing fall over.

Hi guy's, just a quick question and maybe some solid watering advice. I have 50+ T. Pachanoi's that I sowed from seed (in the 5"-8" range). A couple have fallen over pretty much at base level (I just prop them back up with some rocks) or burry them a little deeper which they actually seem ...

Re: Babies outside of container for first time. info?

Thanks for your reply's everyone I really appreciate it! So I just repotted most of the taller ones (5-6 inches) from the little 2" pots to some 4" a few days ago. My Pachanoi's are pretty tall and skinny and a couple need help to stand or fall over. Maybe just stressed from repotting or t...

I must say, they turned out great! I am also starting T. pachanoi , in fact they're finishing germination and I hope mine turn out to be as healthy as yours. Well, thank you my friend! Here's an update of these guys. I seem to have mixed up my T. Pachanio, T. Peruvianus and T. Bridgesii's DOH!!!! I...

Re: Help! T. Peruvianus is developing a couple purple areas! Yikes

I wonder how jheaton's plant is doing now... Thank you for your rely. All of the 4 offsets ended up like that. I cut out some here and there and ultimately hacked the top off of all 4 offsets. It would have been nice to have those but as long as the main guy is fine it's aok. Seems to be. Thanks ag...

Re: Help! T. Peruvianus is developing a couple purple areas! Yikes

Ok, thank you so much! Sine I'm new to surgery forgive my lack of knowhow. If 1 'rib' is purple between 2 green ribs, do I cut into the adjacent green ribs? AND... If 3 (or more) ribs are purple at the top would you suggest cutting the whole top of the offset off about an inch down?? Forgive my stup...

Re: Help! T. Peruvianus is developing a couple purple areas! Yikes

Sorry guys my bad. The Main cactus seems fine. The offsets (now I know what they're called) have the issues. There are 4 offsets. The diseased pics are of 2 offsets. 1 is the worst in the pics. 2 others are showing slight signs of purple with black goop and 1 seems fine, for now. So would it be best...

Re: Help! T. Peruvianus is developing a couple purple areas! Yikes

Thanks for the reply people! Oh No, poor thing! What caused this and Is there a name for it? It seems to be happening on 3 of the 4 new growth from the bottom. I've never had to cut a cacti before, that really sucks. So there's no way she'll recover from this on her own?? If not should I just cut of...
