Re: Hardgrown or not- how do you prefer your cacti/succulents?

Good news is that once you go through the weighing process, you won't have to do it again. It seems to be excellent procedure, but, IMVHO, it works well in the stable weather conditions. In LA, during the summer, can be hot or... very hot :D (correct me, if I am wrong). In most of European cities, ...

Re: Repot or not?

Thanks :-). All Escobarias and Echinocerei after removing from bags in May (ca. 7 months) stay outdoors, also during the winter (temperatures around 5F were OK for them). Of course, they are protected from rain and snow, I quit watering in the end of September. Mammilarias and Lobivias spent the win...

Re: Repot or not?

OK, thanks for advice :-), i will follow. One more question - according to that what I read on the forum, I can just put them as a bunch to a bigger pot (4" or so) or divide group for a few more (or each one in the single pot). Which seem to be better in that case?

Repot or not?

Hi, In October 2020 first time I saw seeds, mainly winterhard Echinocerei and Escobarias, some mammilarias and Lobivia, using baggy method (previous attempt was many, many years ago using standard method, so in fact I am really newbie in this area). The seedlings were placed on the balcony in May 20...

Re: Where did everyone go.

First, Daiv thank you for the excellent job leading to the better site. Resizing photos using Irfanview takes seconds. However, it would be nice to skip this step and have the photos resized by the site engine. Laziness is the engine of progress ;-).

Re: Rooting a mammillaria from a top cut

I did it twice, with Echinopsis sp. and Cleistocactus straussi. I cut the bottom part to make it conical and then placed it in the empty pot in vertical position hanging in the air (paper towel helps very much). When the callus formed and new roots started to appear, I just potted it as any other pl...

So sad :-(. My Graffi is now 8 years old, what is an average age for flat coated retriever, and a I hope that is not true in her case. I understand how you feel (I think). Your plants... simply marvelous :-)

Re: CactiGuide.com Big Picture Project

I am sure if I came to Poland I would find many plant names pronounced differently to the English speaking world, Not to mention pronunciation of the English words :-). How do we know which is correct since no audio recordings of Romans speaking their language in the past exist, meaning that so cal...

Re: CactiGuide.com Big Picture Project

Well, the pronunciation of Latin word... I learned Latin at the High School, and I have learned to pronounce it in the way we Poles found it correct. In my opinion that is very similar to the Italian pronunciation, but, of course, it does not mean, that ancient Romes did it the same way. However, th...

Try Opera. While on PC I prefer Firefox, Opera is much better for android. Far from to be ideal, but well thought. I do not think it supports point 2), but it can be difficult to find nowadays.
