Trichocereus hybrid?

Couldn’t resist this one..or rather these. The tallest of them are close to 15 cm. high. It was labeled Pilocereus but isn’t it more likely to be a Trichocereus hybrid of some sort?

Thank you 7george 🙂 Hm..you may be on to something here..but as you I can’t see any grooves, even when studying it up close.

Re: Mrs.Green windowsills-growing cacti against the odds (links on page 9)

With a few starts/cuttings for trades in a year or two! Absolutely! 😃 In fact I have already potted a few ‘cuttings’, that had fallen off the mother plant during transportation home. I am very happy with this find, I know it’s a very common cactus but as mentioned, I haven’t seen it for sale here f...

Congatulations and happy birthday Tom in Tucson! 🙂🌵 Thank you for this post! BTW, about a month ago, I believe you asked some questions concerning soil sources. I suggested either aquarium gravel, or chicken (bird) grit. Did you try either? My pleasure 🙂 Uhm..did I? I must admit I can’t remember th...

Re: Loph. williamsi- questions

I'd buy it now and let it go dormant. Your plants are a good size. You don't know if they will be available next year. Thank you Jerrytheplater 🙂 True, I don’t know if it will be available next year but its the small size and dormancy ( which will last about 6 months here) I am worried about. They ...

Loph. williamsi- questions

A vendor in Norway have L.williamsi for sale and I am tempted to buy one. But.. I have never had Loph’s before and the plants seems to be very small, only about 1,5 cm - 2 cm. in diameter. It’s late in the year, the growing season is over here. Would it be better to wait until next year, spring/summ...

Nostalgia

I found this one today, Chamaecereus silvestrii; a cactus I remember from my childhood and haven’t seen for sale for years.

Re: Astrophytum help needed

Thanks to everyone replying in this thread 🙂 I do find it interesting to read but I have to confess I like to do things as simple as possible. (as long as it works for me) I know myself and I know that having to pick up a calculator everytime I use ferts on my plants.. maybe the first two times ( at...

Re: Issue greenhouse shading

Just out of curiousity ( I have never grown cacti in a greenhouse) , under such conditions as described above, wouldn’t it be better to just have a roof of some sort with sunscreening? Then there would be no problems with stagnant air and overheating?

Re: My drooping Madagascar Palm . . .

I have only one ‘Madagaskar’ potted in a clay pot, on my windowsill. So my experience is probably not much worth for you, since our plants live under very different conditions. I live in northern Europe and the max temperature is about 30 degrees celsius for some days. Even so the plant is rather th...

Re: Astrophytum help needed

Hallo Mrs. Green, you've got really lovely Astros there (I am a fan, too) & I am really happy that so many survived. Those are really nice flowers, too. So you did everything right, didn't you? I admit I was very suspicious when I read about your soil: Fully-coated, premium-quality fertilizer. ...
