Re: Pereskiopsis Growing Guide
How long do people wait to water young pereskiopsis after repotting? I ask because I don't want them dry out any longer than they need to as they only have a few leaves. By young I'll assume you mean fresh cuttings. I pot fresh cut Pereskiopsis in moistened soil, place the pots in a humidity box (c...

Re: Zac's Seedlings 2024
If you are not sterilizing your organic component, be sure to periodically check for visible fungus or damping off of seedlings and begin drying out the pots if you spot something amiss. I think the particle size you posted is appropriate for seedlings. I use something of similar size with good resu...

This Mammillaria pennispinosa ML 632 has flowered for the first time. I love the fuzzy spines! Wow, that's a really cool species! Never seen a Mamm with the fuzzy spines before. Yeah, it's such a cool little Mamm! The fuzzy spines (fuzzy hooks!) are the primary reason I wanted to grow this species.

Re: West Texas
Awesome pictures keith. I'd love to hike out there one day. I particularly enjoyed looking at that E. dasyacanthus growing out of that crack in the limestone boulder.

Re: Zac's Cacti
I do like the look of shallow pots. More even drying is a great bonus. One thing though is that some species can have pretty long tuberous roots, often longer than the depth of the bowl, so I am stuck with using taller pots.

Re: MrXeric's flowers and things
Epithelantha chihuahuensis. I cross pollinated several flowers from each plant, but only one plant produced a fruit (with only 2 seeds!) That is not a lot, but usually the fruit only contains 5-7 seeds, maybe 8 or 9 if you are really lucky! Yeah, I wonder if small number of seeds is due to in...

This Mammillaria lasiacantha SB 1063 (Hipolito, Coahuila, Mexico) has flowered for the first time. It's grafted on a Selenicereus megalanthus seedling. Tiny, dainty little flower.

The first of the Conophytum I sowed in 2021 has flowered. This was a species mix from Mesa Garden. Most turned out to be forms of C. pellucidum (a var. terricolor bloomed), though there is one I can't quite identify yet. Don't mind the overwatered plant with the split leaves! https://imgur.com...

Titanopsis calcarea and T. hugo-schlechteri 'alboviridis' https://imgur.com/eDCraux.jpg Last year I crossed them and got seed only from the hugo-schlechteri. Most of the seedlings turned out to be variegated, but either they died out over time or they stopped growing variegated leaves. I don't see ...

Re: When to repot Lithops
I repot Lithops in the spring soon after the new leaves completely emerge. Usually around April in my zone and at that point they have already had their first water. But they should handle repotting anytime before the fall (to give them enough time to establish before winter). For peat mixes, I subm...

They all look very good , you are under grow lights now ? I have lithops going now but cactus will have to wait until its warmer . Epithelantha ilariae hard to find you can make seeds eventually :D Yeah, I've kept these in the box under lights longer than I've done in the past. It was fun watching ...

Re: MrXeric's seedlings 2021 (and beyond...)
I really like E. ilariae , putting it on my "to sow" list! As for E.unguispina/spinosior I think that name " spinosior " describes the species much better than " unguispina " (claw-like spines). All of your seedlings are looking perfect :thumbleft: P.S. That Flora Nova...
