Neglected Lophophoras

I just bought a load of various Lophophora plants, 40 to be precise. Im not sure what they all are. But, they are in a bad way. They are very large plants and I would love to add them to my collection. Most are quite seriously dehydrated, some are turning purple and are potted in peat. I was thinkin...

Infected or normal healing?

This is one of my first attempts at grafting. Note my others are using seedlings, this is the only one with an older plant. Is this normal? http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/1746_DSC_0511_1.jpg http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/1746_DSC_0512_1.jpg http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/...

Im assuming the stock is still alive, I dont know how long a cactus could live on top of a dead stock. I have done some research and it seems pereskiopsis grafts are very very rarely used for this kind of time period.

Ill post some pics and see what you guys think.

Fantastic nursery

I would like to post a link to a nursery that sells all kinds of cacti and succulents. They have great service and are very cheap.

Is this allowed?

Ok, quick update. After a few days with the light raised all seedlings are green and growing like hellfire. I made no changes to the photo-period or temperature. The other house has caught up with the first one and germination rate seems to be about 80% in total. =) At what point should I start redu...

I may be able to help with this one, ive had trouble with a much larger rat (my rottweiler). As well as the local rats. For my dog I bought an electric fence generator, second and from a farmer and ran thin wire in a zig zag pattern under my pots, covering the entire area. The little sod couldnt eve...

I never realised the importance of sterile soil. For this attempt I purchased seeding mix (I noticed on delivery it was already sterilised), which is lucky as we dont have a microwave =) As for the lighting. I see photoperiods of 12-18 hours are recommended. I shall remove the reflector and raise th...
