Re: I am 45.If it is late to sow Ariocarpus seeds?
I remember reading once an assertion by the owner of Miles to Go (Miles Anderson) that it usually takes around 6 years for most Ariocarpus to reach flowering size from seed on their own roots. The biggest obstacle now seems to be acquiring accurately labeled seed. Before Mesa Garden changed ownershi...

Re: Recognition
My guesses: The cluster on the left looks like a Euphorbia . Either E. tubiglans , or a hybrid with E. polygona . On the right the stems appear to be withered Echinocereus viereckii var. morricalii . Steve's suggestions for pot size are very valuable. Be sure to wait at least a week after transplant...

Great looking images. The succulent might be a Dudleya saxosa.

Re: Mammillaria sp.?
Based on my limited experience with growing a few milky types of this genus, my first impression was that it could be a M. magnimamma. The guess of it being a M. sartorii seems possible, though less likely.

Re: Is my plant Cephalocereus senilis or something similar?
The advise from DaveW is good. Until it blooms, an ID is almost impossible to make. It could be a number of different species of Mammillaria. My guess: M. guelzowiana.

Re: Small intetesting cactus - but how big do these get?
Unless you're very skeptical of rising earth temperatures, I think that above normal summer heat will soon become typical for at least the next 20 years. Having said that, I suggest you plan for it by establishing trees and shrubs in your yard before planting any smaller cacti. I'm already reaping t...

Unless you get near record heat, I'd wait until early Spring to get the roots established.

Re: Potential Echinocereus?
Thanks Tom! Those images that you posted do look really promising, the spines look very similar. To answer your questions, this plant has been outside this whole winter, so it has handled temps of 21F for a few hours without any issues. As far as general care, it handles full sun well getting minor...

Re: Lithops
A friend of me got me this little pot of Lithops. I have basically no knowledge of anything regarding Lithops, and was wondering if anyone knew the species? It actually looks like it might be a couple different species planted together in the same pot. https://cactiguide.com/forum/download/file.php...
