Harvesting seeds
Hello all; I've had have a couple cactus for ~35 yrs. They've been through some rough years but are thriving now. They flower and are budding profusely. Are these plants self-fertile? (Echinocereus enneacanthus, E. coccineus). The former produces fruit. How should I go about harvesting seed? Thanks ...

Thanks! You're very close, I think, certainly enneacanthus. The species you named and similar spellings appear to redirect back to E. enneacanthus. I did find E. enneacanthus var. brevispinus, which I believe it to be now.

Hello all, this is my first post here. I collected this plant in Brewster or Terrell County (possibly Pecos) in 1985. The rancher was about to chain a new fence line, and called them "claret cup cactus". It's seen some tough times but is thriving now. I'm pretty sure it's an Echinocereus, ...
