Re: Different frankencacti growing up
Interesting. I have crossed Gymnocalycium occultum with Gymnocalycium bodenbenderianum. Looks like it worked. But when using one of the species as the female plant it gave better results than when using the other species. I dont recall exactly but lets say occultum as female gave me 12 seedling whi...

Re: Astrophytum hybrids
Great work!! I saved pollen from my A. ornatum but in the freezer with silica gel. I collected it at the beginning of December, thus I must wait for more than six months for other blooms. I hope that it will survive in good condition.

Echinopsis oxygona
All along last summer and autumn, this oxygona has given up to 30 big flowers in several blooms like the one in the picture. A lot more flowers than last year.

Re: What other genera are confirmed to be able to hybridize with Astrophytum?
The seeds came from the Thelocactus pod, so at least the seedlings must have some characteristics from it. As you say, probably would be a Parodia x Thelocactus hybrid, if this is biologically possible.

Re: European swaps
What do you have to swap, and in what are you interested? And where are you from in Europe? Hi @Aiko ! If I'm lucky, in a couple of years I will have a few hybrids from G. mihanovichii, G. baldianum, G. denudatum v angulatum, G. ragonesei, I did the pollination myself. As you can see, most of the c...

Re: What other genera are confirmed to be able to hybridize with Astrophytum?
Last summer, I did some weird cross-pollination between intergenus cacti. One of them being an Astrophytum ornatum. The other ones were Parodia warasii, Thelocactus setispinus and G. Mihanovichii. The problem is that I did uncontrolled crossings between these four, shame on me for the day I took my ...

Different frankencacti growing up
I did several cross-pollination last spring-summer, and succeeded in most of them - the only one without germination was the weird mix between G. baldianum and Eryosice napina. These are some of the seedlings growing up: Two months old seedlings of G. Mihanovichii - white x pink flowers photo_2022-1...

Columnar cactus identification
Hi everybody!! Merry Christmas! I was given a pretty columnar cactus, with a nice blueish colour, but I'm unable to find its genus. The closer cactus I found is Cereus pachyrhizus: https://cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus=Cereus&species=pachyrhizus , but not 100% sure that it's the right genus. http...
