white flies

Howdy- I was tinkering with some of my cacti pots the other day and bumped one of my E. texensis plants I have in a clay pot. The sun was shining into the window and initially it looked like a little cloud of dust exploded form the plant. I thought it was very unusual so I took a closer look. I disc...

Wow, this has turned itno a fantastic discussion! For now I think I am going to go with obductum. It seems like the closest match. I will be sure to post a pic if it should ever flower. I can only hope. :)

I wonder if it is possible that I have a hybrid? It seems to share qualities of both. :)

Wow! I hadn't even looked in that direction! Those are very similar indeed! I think we have a winner!

Yours seems so much "fuller" than mine. Perhaps I am not giving mine enough water?

Thanks!

Yeah, you might be right with stellatum. Although according to Edward Anderson the spines are dark brown and gray with age. Mine have some brown in them, but are not totally brown, hmmm. The number of spines, 3 to 5 is right though. I also count ~14 ribs on mine and Anderson states that most stellat...

I hope someone can help out with that third one. I planted one in my yard a while back and still haven't gotten around to ID'ing it.

I grew up in Dallas and I am familiar with the mall. It's North Park Mall. They typically have art on loan form the Dallas Museum of Art and my guess is, this is a work on loan. I am hopeful that the needs of the cacti will be considered in preserving the work of art. I am heading up there in a week...

Myrtillocactus geometrizans?

I was kinda thinking I had another Cereus peruvianus, monstrosus on my hands, but I was cruising through the ID forum and saw someone else with a similar cactus that was ID'd as Myrtillocactus geometrizans . The spine coloring and the length of the spines don't match up as a C. peruvianus . The cact...

Browningia hertlingiana?

I got this one a while back (with no ID) and I am pretty sure it is Browningia hertlingiana, although it may be too young to really tell for sure. Any takers?

Gymnocalycium ritterianum?

Howdy- I bought this Gymno about 8 months ago and the local grower here had it ID'd as G. anisitsii . Well, the more I have investigated this one, the more confused I get. I am pretty sure it is not G. anisitsii , but I have been batting around G. riojense and G. ragonesei as potential IDs. Right no...

Barb- I randomly started reading this forum, and I am glad I did! I have a cholla in a similar state, although it hasn't turned purple. I have yet to get a positive ID on it. It is very similar to the one in the pic that Bill posted, and I think if mine were as healthy as his, it would be a match. A...

That's good advice John. Thanks for breaking it down like that. This site is hands down the best source of information for cacti growing I have found. Thanks to Daiv for running it, and to everyone else who posts here. Very cool! I will be sure to post on this forum if any of my cacti start to look ...
