Re: Mailing cacti
I haven't had any issues at all mailing in the states, Alaska included. It may not be necessary, but I like to put what I can in paper bags and fold and tape them closed so any soil that may come loose is kept inside the box. Loose soil coming out of the box or even just stuck to the packing tape is...

Re: Value of large cereus peruvianis and san pedro plants?
Depends on where you are selling/buying them.
Neither is worth much here in so cal because they grow like weeds and cuttings are easily obtainable.
I cant even give either one of those away anymore.

Re: Huntington Plant Sale - April 25-27, 2014
I believe Kyle is referring to the annual desert forum which is free day to members of clubs as long as the club is affiliated with the CSSA. You have to register before you enter and you will have to wear your clubs badge to get in. I go every year and always manage to leave with something I don't ...

Re: Huntington Plant Sale - April 25-27, 2014
I won't go anymore after last year's nonsense. Everyone should be aware that they changed the sale so that ONLY members of the Huntington can shop on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Non-members are allowed to pick through the dregs from 1-4:30 on Sunday. I find that the C&S selection is j...

Re: Favorite Echinocereus?
I never met an echinocereus I didn't like. Here are a few I just happen to have on my phone. IMG_20140404_171246_814-1.jpg This is one of my showiest. Came tagged as coahila, but never really determined exactly what it is, and don't care. IMG_20140415_162930_775.jpg IMG_20140415_162859_790.jpg Wish ...

Re: Alluadia montagnacii propagation question
It can be cut and rooted in the summer months, say from late april into may. Standard rooting methods work. Cut, let dry for a week or so then stick in pumice in the shade. I have done half a dozen A. Procera stems from six inches to 2 foot and they root easily. I am told A. montagnacii roots easily...

Re: Degrafting / Rooting
So technically, your not degrafting them, just shortening the stock, rerooting that short stem and then the scions degraft themselves by growing roots after the peresk stock dies? I recently had a shortened peresk stock die, rot and take the A. agavoides scion out with it. Do you ever have this happ...
