I moved my shelf and forgot it... in direct sun. All the others had lost their greenness, some we're turning into gelly. The temp probably went to high in the pot because the soil was still wet/humid. But it could be something else... It was my first attempt at seeds so I'm not taking this too perso...

Trying grafting things

I had nothing to loose... these 3 little ones were the only left of the batch. The others fried :( So I tried this. Two scions on top and one lower where new branch popped. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_CdvEvhMHcBk/TFdjUGbZ7dI/AAAAAAAAEu0/GI31Um8eHWA/s1600/DSCF7347.JPG UPDATE 1: The smaller one turned brown...

Finally, the graft didn't take :( The scion fell off this morning. In fact, two other grafts I attempted on pereskiopsis failed. The borders of the stock seems to heal and curve in. Is this because humidity isn't kept in very well or should I make an angle cut (as seen on opuntia grafts) to prevent ...

Hamathocactus id

This was thought to be an Hamathocactus Setispinus. But they seems to have a red throat. I just bought this 5 days ago... such a delicate flower ! Could this just be cross pollination for the flower color ? Because the rest would quite meet the id. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_CdvEvhMHcBk/TFW7IZTzFFI/AAAAA...

Hi Will, excellent suggestion. And since there are lots of people here that like the DIY way, here's a cool link: http://www.diyphotography.net/diy_reverse_macro_ring I have myself bought an extension rings package that does pretty much the same... letting you think you have a macro lens for very ch...

Thanks guys, they were all pretty much the same size, though some of them were broken. All of them were grey except one, approximately the same size, that was dark green and much more dry when I opened it. No red one. I checked my soil pouch, can't find any, looked in other pots, same thing. The pot...

Charlpic's First Graft

Since my pereskiopsis are growing like weeds, I decided to try to graft a M. Elongata on it as my first graft attempt. It was easy to cut out one of the many outgrows (so, not to loose the plant). Here's what it looks like... I hope I've off-centered it enough. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_CdvEvhMHcBk/TFEb...

I then look like a fool ? :P

EDIT: Oh wait... I repotted this guy 1 month ago... the original pot was too small to contain all these "eggs". And I'm pretty sure I sterilized the top soil and gravel I used to repot this guy.

Identify this pest please

Let's pretend I have absolutely no clue (but that would be lying)... I have this unidentified cactus I bought from a cheap florist. Pot is big enough I put another pot with a little Epi cutting on the surface. Few weeks later, I notice silk-like matter (No... don't say anything now) at the base of o...

Crassula id

I would safely guess it's a Crassula. But then, i'm totally confused with portulaceae vs ovata, cv Gollum or Hobbit... Is this a monstrose or a cristata of some kind... help needed here. Where does the difference between tubular and more conventional leaves comes from ? http://lh3.ggpht.com/_CdvEvhM...
